Holy rusted metal, you guys!
Remember when I said that I was way behind on my word count, and that I'd basically have to double my 7000 word novel today in order to get back on track? And how I was whinging that I wanted to write, but couldn't just sit down and do it?

So I totally wrote another like 7000 words today! I spent most of work covertly noveling (luckily all the work I had today took ages to process, so I could write while things were loading) and got up to 12,000 words. Then, when I found out Matt wouldn't be home til late tonight because he's at his parents, I cracked open the laptop and have written another 2-3000 words. I'm not really sure where I'm at right now, because I forgot to bring my flashdrive home, so I'm working off a cleaned up copy that I emailed to operachk19. For her I edited out the 5000 words or so that I had written at the beginning of the month, but had to cut out when I changed the plot. Luckily, recovering from that hasn't been too hard, especially because I didn't throw out the word count I'm not using (fuck that, those words are legit!) though I may be a little behind plot-wise. Whatevs.

I actually wanted to use more of the parts I'd already written, but then my heroine wanted to go traipsing off into adventure instead of going home one last time, so I couldn't reuse this entire scene I'd originally written between her and her mom. Maybe some of it can be put back in during December rewrites.

Actually it's one of my pet peeves when people talk about their characters "controlling" the novel and taking over. In reality I just wrote myself into a decision where I very well could have made my character go home (and was originally planning to!) but it just made way more sense for her to get off the bus and go back to where Adventure © would be starting. It just fell into place from there. That's one thing I guess I've been learning since my massive rewrite - trusting my instincts. Maybe it just comes from a year of learning to "yes, and..." in improv, but generally, if I get the idea that something could fit in, it's best to just write it. Even if it skips over entire days I'd wanted to tell. I think that's the reader instinct coming out and saying what would or wouldn't be interesting to read.

Anyway, everything's going a pace right now. I'm probably hitting the stride most people hit over the weekend, but I'm loving it none the less. My MC has just entered into AU-Chicago, and I love describing all the subtle (and not so subtle) differences. She's about to get attacked, which I'm hoping I can work in well enough that it doesn't scream PLOT POINT! Especially because she gets to met the male lead/romantic interest. And I'm just dying to start writing his character!

Alright, I just took a small break to make some chocolate milk and ramble for a bit, but I guess I should get back to writing before Matt comes home and I have to stop for the night.

I'm impressed. I think the most I've ever written in one day was about 4500 words.

Personally, I am just about where I should be with my word count (a little ahead for which I am very proud of myself). I did not get to do much over the weekend work either because I had a research paper, but since I knew it was coming, I planned for it last week. So my word count looked fabulous last week while now I'm barely ahead. Oh well.

Good luck! I hope your steam does not run out anytime soon.

My previous record was about 3500 words, so this is a big improvement for me too! It helps that I pretty much knew what was going to happen up though this scene. Afterwards will probably be harder, but I also won't have to play catch up as much.
Good job planning for the research paper! That's way more foresight than I would have managed!

Woo! I'm still just plugging away at 2000 words/day, so I broke 21,000 just a bit ago. (I wrote 3000 one day, but writing too much tends to result in major burnout.)

Getting closer to that time where I end up having no idea what's going on, though. Sigh. Still in favor of a 20,000 word orgy.
